06 is the first wrx to have drive by wire and a factory 2.5 engine.

2.5 = good

DBW = ****

Has a vacuum pump EGR type turd on the engine that can be chunked in the trash and block off plates installed.

The transmission is conventional push type clutch instead of wrx and sti's normal pull type clutch.

CV axles are hard to find.

First year that needs special tools to disconnect fuel lines from intake manifold.

The unequal length exhaust manifold "rumble" actually slows the turbo spool and interferes with proper exhaust flow.

15k sounds fair. But being from Jersey...I would check it for Herpes and give it an IQ test first.

Also, Jersey = Salt buildup from the roads. Check the undercarriage for rust. Mainly the back/rear of the car by the diff usually is the worst place.

If this is the black 06 that was on Craigslist I think it might actuallly be a a WRX TR with a WRX trunk . The WRX TR version was a basic WRX with 2.5 Impreza interior and didnt come with little things like dual climate AC and no spoiler on the trunk. This could be why its priced lower. Im not sure though I havent seen the car in person.

Is it registered in Honolulu or does it still have the out of state tags? If not you might want to have the owner do it before you buy it, you could run into problems if not.

TR has no side skirts, unpainted mirrors, manual climate controls, wingless trunk, and TR seats.

thanks for bringing that up. i was wondering what TR meant. anyways the car is a WRX. Test drove the car today and was suppose to take it home but the guy didnt want to sell the car until he bought a car. WRX is in pretty good shape. minor dings and scratches.

You are likely going to need a "lien relese letter" from the previous financing institution showing that no party other than the registered owner has monetary interest in the vehicle. Have the current owner get this for you. It can take months to get it yourself. I know from experience.

Sigterm is right, check the car for northern state rust damage. Jack the car up and look underneath...look very well.

The owner has the actual title for the car and has been paid off. Do i still need the lien release letter? If i do need the letter should i buy the car from the owner after i get the letter? Damn first time buying a vehicle thAt was out of state and already getting a headache!
