if this is Astin's old car and the titles says WRX-STi engine swap. thats not an STI motor it's an EJ255, an 06 WRX motor. please adjust and clarify before a young stupid kid gets taken cause he don't know what he's looking at.

If a young kid is dumb enough to buy it cause it's a "sti", who are we to stand in his way? lol. Let a kid buy the car, you aren't paying his payments. Just sayin. And besides with all the NEWBS on here making threads every week with dumb questions, one more won't even be noticeable.

If there's no sticker, it's not an STI

what are the differences?

All I have noticed with the engine itself is a slight difference in the head's combustion chamber depth and piston shape.
The manifold isn't red (deal breaker for sure).
The cams have the same duration, while the sti cams have 1/2 mm more lift.
Top feed vs side feed injectors (I prefer top feed wrx injectors any day)

Anything else?

Maybe he's referring to the drivetrain.
I think the 06 head is actually better
