Maybe he needs new pads and rotors and wants to upgrade while he's at it?

FWIW I'd stay FAR away from the Hawk HP pads, they're garbage. No bite at all and super dusty. I had some for a couple months and just threw them in the bin. Back to my EBC reds and wiping eyeball smudges off the inside of my windshield.

I really like the EBC Redstuff ceramic. I get them from Jamie. Just make a note in the checkout to ship them USPS flat rate. She'll adjust the shipping. As for rotors I just use the OEM or cheap NAPA, Checkers, or whatever. They all work the same for our purposes.

I don't know if you just had sucky experience with Hawk pads but I love my Hawk HPS pads and DBA 4000 rotors. The've lasted me at least 20,000 miles so far and are still stopping great everytime! The brake dust isn't bad if you actually wash your car on a normal basis. Price wise on my sti, i got hawk hps pads, dba 4000 rotors, goodrich ss lines and motul fluid for all 4 sides for under 800 shipped.

"Stopping great every time." Isn't really the measure of a pad. What other pads have you used to compare them to? Where do they modulate? When I had the HPS's on all the braking occured in the last 3/4" of pedal travel, very similar to stock. There was also no real initial "bite". The brakes just came on very slowly. With the reds there's a good bite and then they require much less pressure to achieve max braking. More towards the middle of the pedal travel rather than the last bit. They also lasted through a couple of track days very admirably. JMO, but I feel that I do have some basis for comparison.

I can only compare these to stock STi brakes but they have great response compared to stock. The initial bite is far greater than stock. Also, I can hammer on these thru twisties in the summer and ive never had any problems of fade or lack of pressure. And also they hold good all the way to the floor. Maybe you should've tried the HP+ pads.
