I honestly think that this unit is more intuitive than the AVCR, which doesn't mean it's better. The UI is just easier to understand without instructions.
Gear based boost control is pretty huge for stock block cars.
You can ramp the boost up really high on the lower gears, where the load isn't as high, and then you can reduce the pressure in the upper gears, where the car passes through load points very slowly. It takes time though, so if your tuner is not mapping this out on the street, you're not getting the most from this.
The AVCR is pretty much the same, except that the user interface requires Joejoe69's video.

Damn, my vid is a dinosaur compared to what knowledge I gained in a few months after. I wanted to make a Ver.2 AVC-R vid but my project stopped.

Bumping for Jess. Good guy, good kuya, good soldier, good Subie owner. Highly recommended!!

Joe and Reid pretty much summed it up. Personally given my in and out deploying situation at the time I had no patience to play around with it. I need a set it and forget option.
Thanks Reid and Joe!
and Joe what is this Kuya crap you are referring to?

Reid is right about boost control adjustments and user interface. But if the DTEC had rpm vs boost control like the AVCR did, it would be a great tool as well. For big turbos, you can ramp it up early in low rpms to build boost quicker and then lower/stabilize to your target at higher rpms. Street tuning is the best, just gotta watch your situational awareness though.
