I was hoping for a nice Momo or Sparco racing baby seat for my little boy when he finally comes into the world.

Get em, 18hr.

That's the answer to 90% of the questions that go on in the tech forums.

Mike
He posted this in the EM forum. My point being, I understand where Alex is coming from 100%, but he doesn't see it from the standpoint of a newbie like myself.

The way I see it, I've got awesome access to some pretty smart people here in the HIIC. Why would I want to post my tech questions elsewhere if 1)I know that someone here can probably help me, and 2)the people here are less likely to flame my questions because they know where I'm coming from....meaning, when you post a question to the whole wide world, it might be a good question and I might have searched high and low, but some righteous dumbass who doesn't know my level of experience nor my car, has to belittle and make himself feel bigger. I mean, even if I ask a newbie question here, I might get a little bit of ribbing, but ultimately someone will give me a hand.

But again, I understand why Alex wants our 'smart' guys responding in the tech forum's. My point is, 90% of the time, the answer that Mike gave...."Do a search, dummy.", is what y'all will be giving.

Im with you Pat. I feel the same. I have been trying to post in the tech forums and I get lame answers or nothing worth a damn. When I post in Hawaii I know you guys will give me the real answer and wont fly off the handle about searches. I figure I will just stop asking questions and just lurk until I get there, then I will be the annoying noob calling you at 3am when I wake up thinking about which boost controller I want... =)

No one will tell you to search here, yet. There isnt much to search in. And if they do, just ignore.

For one I know, that I don't answer tech questions when they are in the wrong place.

Imprezer,

Im with Pat, I am also not trying to be a pain. But I have posted a couple message after you requested we dont post in here. I posted in a couple tech forums and saw many views and got like 1 or 2 replies. When I post the same question in here I get about 10 or more replies and they are actually useful replies. Not the short answers I seem to get out in the tech forums. Its the whole idea that people who know you (or atleast know the area you are in) will try and help a lot more than those across the country/world who could care less about you and your car. I would surely answer a question from someone in my local area who I might hang out with or see someday, rather than answer the guy from Kansas who I will never see. Oh well. Guess I need to drop the debate huh and just follow the rules. Will just try and figuew out how to post a message here pointing to the other forums.

I'm not sure your location has anything to do with it, but I understand your frustration. I choose to believe that it isn't based on a location bias. If that truly is the case, I really don't understand it.

OTOH, I think there are a sizeable number of lurkers who read the tech forums but consider themselves to be such newbies that they aren't comfortable with posting. These folks will likely not check regional forums other than their own for tech information. These are the people who will benefit from our questions *and* answers being posted in the tech groups, as opposed to the regional ones.

i-Club can benefit the greatest number of members by posting in the appropriate forums. Perhaps by showing how Hawaii-based members extend ohana to the mainland, we can set an example.

I have in the past posted a question about say wheels and such in the Hawaii forum and got atleast 10 replies that were very helpful. I recently posted again in the tech forum and got like 1 answer out of everyone that views those forums. I just prefer to get local advice personally (well almost local since Im not in Hawaii yet) since I really rely more on information from people who I will actually see someday. Oh well. I gotta give this up since its the way it is, we dont run this forum so we gotta follow the rules. Just means less posting for me and the i-club wont be as useful a source of information anymore.

Jey guys...if this means for the time being, I might have to start moving posts for Alex. I don't want to make enemies about this, but Alex does have a point. We could always post in the tech forums, then cross link them in a post in our forum, if the need arises. This may mean more space used on the servers, so I think you guys will make the right decisions.
