What makes this Circuit City Xbox 360 Gears of War package a good value?

It has the 360 premium, gears of war, xbl silver, wireless controller, play and charge...

Why shouldn't I just buy the 360 premium @ $399 + GoW @ ~$60 = $459 instead of spending the rest? Do I need that other stuff?

No if you shop well, you could get the extras for less. Play and charge is $10-$15 and a controller is $40. Gears can be had for $45 used.

it depends if you want to play online or not.

YOu can dowload content from the xbox live on gold membership. XBOX LIVE is the best thing about it.
