Wrong gas in my '10 wrx

I just pumped gas....in whitmore village....they have that "all in one aloha gas pump"....u know the pump with 3 buttons(87/89/92) w/one pump nozzle....i pressed the 92 button numerous times and for some reason it pumped 89 into my car....there was no button indication as of what gas was selected....@ the end of fueling up it showed that i pumped 89 into my car....my question is how bad is my stiuation and what is the chances of detonation??!?

should be fine, you can throw some octane boost in there if your that worried about it. but for the most part it should be fine, you will get worse mileage and not as much power as you normally should.

You'll be fine. Like 04Sleeper said, just don't pound it. Just put your 92 next time. Our cars aren't THAT fragile.

you can always get a gal or two of race gas if it'll make you sleep better.

i disagree, i think its easy to break a subaru... dont pound it, dont boost up hill, dont boost at all until you use up that gas.. your car may knock, better to be paranoid and change your driving style than be suprised later after the fact.... you can try the octane booster but i woudnt consider that a fix so you can drive it hard...

I agree with the not boosting, keep it below 5k and dont boost more than a few psi.

Octane booster is bullsh!t in a bottle, they sell power, clean injectors, and dreams to people that don't know better. Dont waste your money.

Just drive it easy for the tank.

Subaru ECU's are very intuitive, drive it easy. If it begins to knock a little your car will pull ignition timing a little to make up for it.

It will continue the retarded timing...even for a while after you switch back to 92. However within a few days, it should learn that it can advance the timing back to the norm, and all will be fine.
