Wix filter?

Alright, so Ive been using the Wix filter ever since I read that thread where people were saying the Subaru filter was made by Fram....so, Ive been buying them from Don Quixote. My friend tried to grab me on at the Kaheka location a couple weeks ago...none. I went to the Pearl City location on Saturday and couldnt find any on the shelf. So I asked the worker if they had any in the back. She came back and said they were discontinued....is this true? Just seems kinda weird that both Kaheka and Pearl City had none...or is it just Don Quixote isnt selling them? Where does everyone else buy their Wix filters?
On a side note I went to Subaru on Friday to buy gaskets....doh, went to the old location:P then I remembered there was a thead saying they moved? When I got to the correct location, I heard someone yelling my name....ehhh, I didnt know Allyn works for Servco! Guess Ill be dropping by earlier than later if I cant find any Wix filters:P
Another sidenote...I dropped by Sonic on Friday and met Larry with the silver WRX. Friendly guy, just came up to me and started talking.

hey, whats the difference between the regular amsoil and XL? website says extended life...not sure if i should switch and use that? i try to change mine at 3k but it ends up being closer to 4k/5k

Napa filters have different grades of wix filters. Gold being the best.

Also heard better reviews with Puralators

the XL is a 7500 mile oil which would be great with the Mann filters since those last 7500 as well. not recommended to use the 100% 25k oil with subarus since the manufacture doesnt recommend extended oil change intervals.

amsoil will last a long time if u keep using it and not switch brands. amsoil is 100% synthetic and will not sludge like other so called synthetics. so if u use amsoil from brand new you never run into a problem with sludge and can go the extended intervals. i go about 10k intervals or 1 year on my corolla

i go 3500 miles with any oil on a subie filter. Not going to risk it on an extreme condition maintenance schedule. Subie demands 3750 mile intervals, synthetic or not, Amsoil synthetic media filter or not. But to his, his own.

the longest i go between changes is 5k miles. my cars a **** though...since i got it (at 13k miles) ive used mobil 1, royal purple, amsoil, and eneos. motor was taken apart at 30k and cleaned (had alot of carbon build up) and ive used amsoil since then (eneos once).
the reason i asked about oil weight is, the time i used eneos, i was told to use 5w-40. amsoil makes 5w-40 (european formula) but no ones ever said they used that? i just use the regular 5w-30...comments/thoughts?
