It boggles my mind that my manifold, turbo, and dp have seen 1600dg F many times (for very short periods) and haven't melted.
....oh yeah, all of y'alls manifolds, turbos, and dp's have seen that temp, too.

I think you'd better do some research. Aluminum will melt at 1200 F? Anyone here with an EGT will tell you otherwise. Plenty have seen 1500+. Do a search.

San, he's right.
It's not a case of the aluminum reaching 1600, it's solely the exhaust. The physics of it is the flow. If those gases were static and were able to heat the surrounding material through radiation or convection, then the aluminum would turn to liquid. Yet another reason to ensure that your flow is straight and unimpeded.

PURE aluminum melts at 1200f. That's why alloys are neat.
