White Spots on Wheels
Check out the white spots on my wheels:

This part's not too bad:

Spot when car is wet and immediately dried:

I have used the mr clean eraser maybe three times but I never scrubbed for too long to really scratch off the clear (I know it's abrasive but I find it hard to believe it would have done more damage than my wheel brushes.) I have used wheel cleaners (like turtle wax wheel cleaner) very minimally since I rather just save money and scrub off the dirt with a brush.
Just wondering if anyone might know what it is and how to remove it. Once removed I will obviously need to better maintain the finish to prevent the same white spots. I'll try claying on my next day off so I hope you guys can give me some advice, thanks!

You need to keep your wheels somewhat maintained as if you could keep the paint on your car maintained. Meaning do not use anything that was not really designed for paint. We use Griot's Garage Wheel Cleaner on our our wheels, track or street and have never had any issues. We have started to use their wheel cleaning clay for wheels that have brake dust etched into the surface.
You have to watch out for a lot of cleaners out there as majority of them are not meant for cleaning paint.
Regards,
Gary

Yea,..the Mr Clean Eraser stuff is really abrasive even if it doesnt look like it would do any damage....
Just use soap and water to clean/wash and whatever paint cleaning/polishing products you would use on your car body to treat your wheels...

Looks like we can eliminate the possibility of Mr Clean or any wheel cleaners as the culprit. Turns out the water I use to wash my car is full of minerals because some was dried out by the sun and left huge white deposit spots on my paint.

those look like hard water stains...try drying your rims immediately after you wash them versus letting them air/sun dry.

Good news: It can come off with clay barring :-D
Looks like it'll take me about a month to clean my rims fully. I'm actually having success with the Mr Clean eraser for the inside of the wheel since I'm pretty sure that part's not clear coated. Once I finish claying my wheels I'll be sure to use some kinda sealant.
