I would look in the phone book for places that powder coat and go check out their shop and ask to see some of their work. Tell them you want to check out their quality because your rims aren't cheap.

I've heard good things about Hi-Tech Coatings in Campbell Industrial Park. Their number is 682-2000. IIRC, it's $65 per wheel.

Is Hi Tech powdercoating or paint or do they do both? I have my 17" UK WRX wheels off the car right now, Fedex delivered my new tires yesterday, but I'm thinkin' while the wheels are bare I might as well have them re-finished. I think I'd prefer to do paint, but I dunno.

OK. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure why I said I'd rather have painted - I think I'd really rather have powdercoated.

So here's a question... Do I keep my UK WRX wheels the factory silver color, or should I have them powdercoated bronze like my TE-37s? I dig the bronze on the TE-37s, but I'm having a hard time visualizing the UK WRX wheels in that color.

Thoughts?

It was silver, and strangely enough still is.

Silver UK 17s:

Bronze TE-37s:

FWIW, the Volks don't really look that dark, the bronze is a bit lighter. I wish I had a better picture to throw up here.

Hi Tech has a really nice gun-metal coating that would look great on a silver car.

I dropped my wheels off this afternoon at Sunset Refinishing in the Pearl City Industrial Park. Really nice people to talk to, spent a bit of time with Mike (the guy who'll actually be doing the wheels) as he and I tried to decide which color best matched the factory color. Very helpful. He said he may actually get them done tomorrow, which would be pretty sweet.

I'm sure Hi Tech would do a great job, unfortunately there's just no way I'll be able to get out to Campbell Industrial Park during the week. Sunset was just more convenient to get to - hopefully they do good work. (Saw some sample stuff sitting around the office that looked good, sooo... )
