Where can I get a bulb....
My driver's side headlight went out in my STI and the dealerships don't have any and Parts-America (Checkers) list the part number of the bulb for $360 that sounds right if you are buying maybe a HID kit but for one buld...I found a place on line that has them for $75 or $139 for two. The model number is D2R...5-star said to try the Benz dealership. I didn't get a chance to call Schuman but they did and they don't have any either...Why can't they carry a part like that I know they are supposed to last a long time but so what am I supposed to do if I drive at night and get pulled over just tell the cop to give the dealerships the ticket because they don't carry the part in stock??? OH does anybody have one cheap thought I'd ask...
If you get a single replacement bulb you'll more than likely end up with two different color eyes
due to temp differences. $360 for a single bulb is pretty high.....I have seen some replacement bulbs in that range, but for a pair. If you do end up buying a pair you can choose from a number of temp ranges (even whiter light) so you can have a different color.....making yourself cooler then everyone else

what's the number on the bulb? does it look like this?
This is the stock bulb out of my lights. I got my replacements off of ebay believe it or not. The bulbs that I got weren't ****ty either and are made in GERMANY so they are good quality bulbs. They are made by philips.

edit: after re-reading your post again i see that you have D2R bulbs. yes you should be able to get them at BMW or any car manufactor that has OEM HID headlights. These lights should burn out for at least 3 years though.
I though that I had to get new bulb since while driving home the light began to flicker then went out... I went home and checked all the connections to the lights and they were all good so I disconnected them then reconnected them and still they didn't work. took the light in side and unscred the headlight housing holding the bulb and checked the bulb... it didn't seem to be burnt out even though the element on the side of the bulb was cracked that makes no difference. So I put it all back together after taking this picture that i posted then proceeded outside to further test it.
I took the other headlight off since I knew it work and connected it to the other size ballast to illiminate the possiblity of the ballast being bad. It worked no problem. then I connected the lights back up again and tried it one last time and what do you know it turned on!
I still have a set of bulbs that I still haven't even used yet... I'm thinking I'm going to just check these stock bulbs and use the other ones... They weren't expensive either.

I put it back in to keep the plug from bouncing around so I can't remember the number but all three of those in those pictures have different numbers. I am just gonna buy two when I do so they are matching. I am gonna call Benz and BMW and my friend who used to be a VW mechanic told me to call them too.
