What would be a better choice...

rex vs buick at 20mph

My question is...by looking at the pictures...should I just go into a body shop and let them handle it or should I listen to some of you guys and get a fender/bumper, finishing it myself, then get it professionally repainted.

thanks

Talked to Jon earlier today and he said that theres someone selling the fender but it will be black primered. I believe the bumper will be painted though. Unless someone is willing to hook me up with a silver painted one some places are selling. I might as well hop an email to subaruparts.com and see if it comes painted or not.

Boom:

I spoke to the person I know at SCHUMANN. He works for the parts department. He said that the fenders DO NOT come painted but they do come primered ready for painting.

b/c the subaru wrx fenders are so friken THIN!!! I would say to get a new fender. And No, none of the body panels come painted.
If you talk to George at schuman, you can get the fender and bumper for the prices I already mentioned.
He can tell you a guy there that can paint them for you as well.
Since your car is Silver, I HIGHLY reccomend getting it blended, ... the 'fender-to-door' will Not be a perfect match, and it will be noticeable.

The Cheapest way to do it is to have the parts painted off the car(have whoever you have paint it keep the extra paint!), ... put them on the car yourself, then take the car back and have the paint blended.

I had the exact fender and bumper F-cked up (except mine was much worse, ... especially after I got through with it! , and it was f-cked up for a Year!), so I went through all the hassle of trying to afford to fix it.

Thanks. I'll look into that. I'm in no hurry for now since I want it to be done right. But tomorrow I shall go to see if I can get an estimate from a hookup I got from friends. Maybe I could get them to just paint and I'll do the removal/install fenders/bumper.

jon,

I just looked at your light, and I'm pretty sure that the scuff's can be polished/waxed off

Sub-Sonic hooked me up with guy at the Tony Group paint shop.(next to Schuman Waipahu). I had my new bumper painted and also had him repaint my STi hoodscoop (it came with a bad paint job). He used the paint code and VIN to get the right match.
Cost to have both painted was $175, but would have been $150 for just the bumper.
They were both painted off the car.

I don't remember the exact amount, but I believe it was a little over $200 for the bumper. I didn't talk to George initially so didn't get a break on it.

Ummm? Nolimit, was the dealers supposed to disclose that information to the new owner before making the sale?
