I like
gdogg's advice. Steering rack bushings are cheap and you'll feel them. You can probably just do the rear sway bar as the 04 sway bar links are beefier. That saves you lots of cash. You could swing a short shifter and hardened shifter bushings and totally change the feel of your car (provided the cost is similar to the WRX).

i'd like to add,
if you serious about improving shifting performance(along with oldmansans advice) get the cusco engine/tranny mounts. i don't have them in my car yet, but i have driven my friends car. and i must say that it has the same impact impressions like the steering bushings. when i drove it i was like WOW. downshifting was so awesome- only thing. its like 300 bucks. and u have to install 'em .. oh, and your vibrations are much more noticeable... but who cares right?

is on the right path, I just wasn't sure how much cash you would have had left. I installed the STI tranny mount with my short shifter and upgraded bushings. Made a big difference. I've also done the engine mounts. I've done countless modifications. Most of them you can feel immediately, and then you're almost instantly used to it. By all means listen to people than have already done mods. Some mods are barely worth it, some are more than worth it.

hmm, i totally forgot about the short shifters.... i wanted to do that when i just got the car.
now i still dont know where to go first, haha. either dp or shifting performance. which would be harder to install? would it be the dp? something about the bolts or nuts not comming loose? i wanna do the harder one first cuz i dunno if i can do all these mods b4 i graduate highschool. i use my school's auto shop to do all my installs, and i dont have a wide selection of tools at home. sounds like i might do gdogs idea. where can i buy these parts, vakamon, hypersports, eurosport??? not very familiar on where to buy parts locally, not familiar with online shops either. i wanna keep it local tho..
thanks!

Headers I wouldn't worry too much about unless you are planning on making major hp. It totally depends on what you use for your car. Here's a couple of issues to keep in mind:
1) You will sacrifice your low end torque for high end when changing the header. Us 4EAT guys can't afford to lose anymore low ends... so keep that in mind.
2) Do research because not all headers are created equal. Some have fitment issues and leaks do occur and some are just flat out expensive. So you have to choose carefully and get a proper install.
3) Equal length are technically better BUT you will lose the OH-SO-SWEET boxer rumble. So choose Unequal length headers if you want to keep the boxer sound.

Hey I just learned my lesson by doing searches first then asking the question cuz I always would get ragged on and sometimes still do.. wait.. I still do everytime.. lol Justin and Nate are usually the ones that take the first swing because they know how clueless I used to be when I proved to everyone I didnt know where my jack handle was at Jasons.. lol

WOW, thats a lot of feedback from this thread! My advice would be to keep saving your $$$, and get the most bang for your buck by getting a piggyback ECU like an XEDE! It alone gives you 40+ HP, especially if you use it with race gas. That way you can keep your stock STI exhaust and not have to worry about removing your Cat ---stealth mode!!

I did some research justin so start giving me some props.. lol
MR. STI - i'm no expert, but i think that for a budget under $500 there are a few freebie mods that you can do, then i would suggest a toolset from sears. now thats a good 1st mod, as i'm sure many will agree with me on.
