What do you do in the Military?
I know there are a lot of military personnel here. I was actually curious on what branch you are in and what do you do? Also I setup a poll of what paygrades we have here.
As for me I am a SFC/E-7 in the Army and I work as a 25U which is a Signal support systems specialist. I deal with fixing radios and computers to keep it short but currently I am working as a BDE COMSEC custodian.

I was in the Air Force...
AFSC 324x0
I had an electrical engineering background and got sick of school. I joined the Air Force and became a PMEL AKA TMDE Technician.
PMEL: Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory Technician
TMDE: Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment Technician
I use to calibrate and repair to component level K3/K4 Test Equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, power meters, etc...never a torque wrench...yeah, those got calibrated also but were left to the people who would blow stuff up instead of fixing things...heh heh...
I got out after 4 years because in my career field, in the Air Force...the avg time to E-5 was 14 years!!!! Hell no...I aced my tests and got airman of the year for my squadron and still there was no way I was going to make E-5 in less than 14yrs...thats nuts...thats the Air Force...
But my experience there was all positive...finished up my degree, grew up, and it gave me time to think about life...I would highly recommend the military for those that feel lost or uncertain about life...pay, medical, and most of all time to think...it was cool but not a career for me...

O-3/Captain, hopefully very soon to be at least promotable.
Infantryman. Very proud of the fact that I'm Airborne Ranger qualified, however, I'm working in what's called a 'branch immaterial' job (recruiting) that puts me in a sort of holding pattern. What that means is that there are specific jobs I must do in order to 'qualify' myself at each rung on the ladder. I am qualified for the particular rank I am. Once I get promoted, I move on to do a similar job to Staff Sergeant Jess.
Following this job in recruiting, I should head to Ft Gordon, GA and receive training in what's called Career Field 53, or Information Systems Management. My understanding is that it's about 9 months long. Then I have to do some form of what used to be called Command and General Staff College, now called ILE or Intermediate Level Education; either at Ft Gordon or at Ft Leavenworth.
Following that, I should get some job at Division or higher (you've heard of the 101st Airborne Division or the 1st Infantry Division...) Higher means Corps, Army, Theater.... I could even end up as someone's punk at the Pentagon.
Oh yeah, and FWIW, Patrick Olsen outranks me. Lieutenant Commander, I believe.

I was also recently promoted back in May so I still have a year and some change b4 my first look for SFC. I have also been toying with the idea of becoming a Warrant officer in my field since they are looking for qualified personnel (me) to fill slots.
