Question What the **** is that noise?!

Well, I was driving up to kunia tonight and decided to boost a little.......As soon as I got on the boost hard, I started to hear a high pitch whistle/fluttering noise.....The car still acted normal(I even still reached peak boost) but it just made that noise....Normal driving, there's no noise......only when I get on the boost hard... I'm going to Vakamon first thing in the morning to get it checked out......What could it be?!......

It might be your wastegate that's making the fluttering sound.

Boost leak...check your mods first...most guys get them if they to the UP or DP wrong.

It could also be your BOV if you got one.

Word.

he had an up and dwn for a while now. and a boost leak would cause you to lose boost right? he is not losing any boost it just makes a fluttering sound when he gets on it like when he starts spooling. any other ideas on what it could be?

About the boost leak; you can still reach peak boost with a leak while overworking your turbo but usually most leaks are big and you can't reach target boost.

Loud noises while boosting.. maybe a boost leak, as you may already suspect. ;0

Well.....I just came back from Vakamon.....I had Ryan ride with me so that he can hear the problum, He doesn't exactly know what the problum is, but most likely it is the turbo I have an appointment on thursday to find out the problum.....for now, I can drive the car.....What Ryan suspects, is that, when the turbo spools faster, the shaft becomes unstable causing the "supercharger" like noise...... Dam, This ***ken sucks.......

Isn't your car still under warranty?

Just take it back to stock and have Subaru play with it.

That is if you can get it back to stock.

Bpang1...I'm lazy

dave, my turbo has the same noise. don't worry, let me hear it one day.
How many miles you got on the ODO? i'd say it's just broken in. Mine sounds like a Diesel Bus. anyway, don't worry too much.
