Wow, totally stumbled onto this one - and I've been stuck looking at these pics for a while now...
Viet ****ING Nam... Wow. These guys were KIDS - but went through the **** for us.

I must've missed this post before.
Yeah, those guys were certainly heroes. It gives me goosebumps when I read the old stories about how a unit on the ground just went through, or worse still, is still going through the meat grinder and they needed to get their badly mangled soldiers (boys) out of the fray.
It never failed. One could always count on a pilot to come through, even when the big bullets were flying.
I'm curious to hear the reports that are coming out of Afghanistan and Iraq.
I'll tell you, if you're a soldier in the 25th, you seriously wonder where that old-time dedication, self-sacrifice, and absolute guts went. That old Infantry/Aviation codependant relationship isn't very apparent in my Division.
