Letters sent. Oahu needs a class facility in which the whole State can be proud of.

The OP says "World Class Facility". Seriously, HRP has never been accused of being a world-class facility. There is also more to this saga than most know. We need a track. But one of the problems with HRP was that some of the individuals who were responsible for their particular areas of responsibity weren't doing a good job. If the track were to stay open and the same crew ran their respectable areas, it would probably be destined to fail. According to some posts I've seen, the "closing" of the track is just a means for someone to purchase the property at a substantially discounted price. Caveat Emptor!

Again, that's all rumor and speculation. The detractors of the bills are going to say anything that will try and negate the success that we're pushing for. Do I get anything out of this? No...do I gain profit, no? But I've seen the plans, I've seen the books, I've seen the Environmental Impact Studies, I've seen the designs for the racetrack that MO has provided, and I firmly believe that if there's anyone that can get a track built for us...it's HIM. If he was so quick to make a substantial profit on turning HRP into a business park, then why did he wait 13 years and NUMEROUS lease extensions to do it in? Why would he even WASTE his time and money pushing a bill in the State Legislature for so long? Why did he spend THOUSANDS of his own money to retrofit and repair the facility, only to be FINED because it's against the zoning variances placed on the track itself?

If the state gains control of the property, I honestly think it will be worse off than it is now...and besides, there's no way ANY investors that put 250+ million dollars into a project is going to sit back and let one man run the show. They're going to create a board, SOMETHING to oversee and protect their investment.

Regardless, to the point of my post...There's been another update...tomorrow, Rep. Takamine is going to decide on whether or not to hear SB1734 in the House of Rep Finance Commitee. Apparently, everyone's email campaign today, DID have a VERY POSITIVE effect on our legislature. Congratulations to all of you...and thank you for supporting Oahu's racing enthusiasts.

But we again, need everyone to email Rep. Takamine and encourage him to hear SB1734. SORT is going to have a massive campaign as well against hearing the bills. We must act to counteract this misplaced attack on our cause to bring a WCF to Oahu for all of our racers. Do not let one small minority of personal vendettas decide the future for you. We're almost there...let's keep going!

The same template is all that you need:

Subject: Please Hear the Motorsports Bill

Dear Representative Takamine,

I am a motor sports enthusiast and am writing to strongly urge you to let SB1734 be heard in the Finance Committee. This bill will help secure a permanent long-term home for motor sports on Oahu and allow for further expansion of a growing industry.

Sincerely,

Your name

Please send the email to:
reptakamine@Capitol.hawaii.gov

We can do this...everyone has done a great job so far, and you've helped to keep these bills alive. Just a little more...and we've GOT IT! Let's do this!

I've sent mine out, it took less than 5 minutes...

Thanks Junior...your support is appreciated...the majority of Oahu wants this track...I hope we don't let a very vocal minority get their way.

Submitted mine and added this phrase:

The constituents that make up SORT, which opposes the motorsports bill contains perhaps 10% or less of the racing constituency in Hawaii. They are a small minority of people that are basing their arguments on half-truths and personal vendettas. Please do not let these people hurt the large majority of constituents (read: voters) who support a new motorsports complex.

Sad guys...looks like Senator Hanbusa killed bill HB994. It's dead...all because of her bias. Our only hope is SB1734 now...please send in your support. It's all we have now. 10% of Hawaii's racers is killing it for everyone else.

Did it last nite too... and that's just F*ed up.

Hey won't their faces be red when the number of incidents of street racing on the freeways and even accidents increase. It'll probably like the van-cam or gas-cap bills... one-track minded politicians can't see the big picture.
