Up Pipe Gasket

Well... I just broke my up pipe gasket today... I started up my car and it sounded like ****... loud *** exhaust leake... when I got home I lifted my car up and right when I looked under the heat sheild to my exhaust manifold the damn after market gasket that I bought from prestige subaru broke and was hanging out between the manifold and the up pipe =(

Anyone got a lower up pipe gasket lying around that I could have?

It's quite possibly that you had a leak to begin with and it eventually blew itself out(that gasket that is) or perhaps you over torqued your lower flange, cracked it and it blew out eventually. Oh well, good luck on getting it fixed!

*Mitch prays his fancy Prestige gasket doesn't blow out too*

I know for certain that I didn't have a leake. After repairing the leake more than once I made sure I didn't have a leake! It's possible that I over torque the flange becaue I was so scared of having that dredful uppipe leake again...

I really don't change my boost setting anymore.. I run day to day at 18PSI and stay at 18PSI when I got to the track... could the higher octane have anything to do with it?

I'm going to have Dyno Engineering Gaskets shipped to me over night so I should have them by Wed

I'm willing to try anything at this point... Here is what it's made of: The material is 80% chrysotile asbestos with a SBR synthetic rubber.

it's also thicker than 2 stock gaskets put together with the crimping ring

Damn this sucks.. depending on how things go with the reinstallation of new uppipe gaskets will determine if I go to the track or not

this sucks I thought I was rid of that damn uppipe leake... guess were not safe after all!

I got mine from Subydude... you can also get them from speedmonkee.com or dynoengineering.com (makers of the gaskets)

Well... I just finish replacing all the gaskets that I ordered.

I replaced the following (not necessarily in this order)

1 Turbo to Down Pipe
1 Turbo to Up Pipe
1 Up Pipe to Manifold
2 Manifold to engine

I should have bought 1 for the manifold to cross bar.

Well sucks to be me now since my EGT probe broke and now I have a bolt in there plugging the whole (or so I thought)

Will a half inch hole in the manifold (is plugged with bolt right now) cause the car not to give full boost and bog really hard if the gas if floored? If so then I'll have to fix this problem when the new probe comes in dammit!

To answer your question more clearly I had to live the Up Pipe mod experience.

In regards to the picture good thing I still had a good factory gasket still available. The leak caused my EGT probe to become brittle and break when I was installing the new gaskets

A word on the new gaskets... They are great! A lot thicker than the stock ones and gives me piece of mind knowing that It's harder for me to get a leak now.

Oh... If your going to replace your gaskets I suggest cleaning the surface of the pipes...etc. with Carb or Brake Clean to get rid of all that crap that could cause a leak.

Well I fixed my problem.... I forgot to tighten the throttle (sp?) body clamp to my IC. After that adjustment everything is

Gaskets are fantastic...! Definately would buy them again and being 2 times as thick as the stock gasket you cannot go wrong!
