Topic 4 discussion- the cleverness of HPD
110 am
going up kapahulu ave. towards H1 west onramp. those of you who know this ramp u know that you can't drive like grandma. so at 4th gear (4,000 rpm) i head down the ramp, look in my mirror... and get on the freeway. as soon as i look forward its too late! there was a blue and white sitting right at the university/manoa exit(laser gun out) i thought i was toast. ( i look at my speedo- it showed 62 mph) so i pass(no flashers)... 700 feet later i see 2 more cops with imports pulled over.
i was glad that i never went up to 70 (which is pretty fast for that stretch. the funny thing is we try to drive slow in the areas we know to be "hot spots" and speed in the ones we think are safe.(because we think the cops won't set up there) although i was a little upset that the cop was there i know that he probably helped save someones life tonight.
although we sometimes think that these "speed traps" are uncool. the bottom line is its to catch speeders(or racers) off guard. my props to the traffic div. guys. getting creative and getting rid of those "gray areas" where we speed.
moral of the story- please form good driving habits

They're always there. I call it "the grassy knoll". That's where I got my last ticket. 55 in a 45.
