TMIC Upgrade...

Would I benefit from buying a STi TMIC?

I know this has been discussed before but I still haven't upgraded my TMIC yet... I have tried the PWR TMIC but didn't have it on the car long enough to notice a difference at the track... I did however notice a difference on the freeway...

The reason I'm asking is because all the discussions that I've been reading regarding upgraded TMIC has been mostly between the two types of IC's that are made.

I really don't care what type I get (longevity does matter ) as long as I can see and feel the results...

I don't have money always at my disposal so cost is an issue...

I guess it depends on which STi intercooler you get?? USDM or JDM... I don't think either are worth the cash, but thats just what i think. There is always a new PWR, APS, TurboXS, and many many more other tops mounts out there. Good luck w/ a choice.

I don't think the STi I/C would help enough to justify the $$$ either. If you're going to do it, go big or stay stock. My .02

well bigger isn't always better when talking about IC's.. it was also pointed out in numerous magazines.. this is because of heat soak.

I have tried the PWR one and it didn't yeild any gains at the track (though it wasn't on my car long enough to notice )

I have considered other IC's but the cost is pretty high...

What I meant to say was, if you're going to spend, there's no sense in getting something marginally better (read STi I/C).

Jon,

I just want to caution you about making an assessment for or against the PWR. I know you're probably not since you know that the period it was on probably wasn't enough to make a valid assessment; I just don't want folks to perceive what you're saying as being from the result of a critical experiment...there may have been other factors that affected you're drop in performance....or it could just be that it's a piece of crap. I've had pretty good results, though.

Yes... I know this

Let's make it perfectly clear... There isn't anything wrong with the PWR TMIC it performs great! I didn't have it on the car long enough to notice any gains... this is still yet to be determined... Please do not disregard the PWR..

I look forward to using it again sometime soon Pat!

If I come across a $400-$500 used one, I may jump on it.
