Which Tire?!?! Help me my Hawaii Peeps!

Anyways- for a autoX tire (assume im using a 8in rim with proper offset):

245/40/17 Hankook RS ??

235/40/17 Azenis 615 ?? I'd get 245/40 but Falken doesn't offer it

Which one? This is for a 2005 Legacy GT

Get the RT-615s!

Have you considered the BFGoodrich KD tire?

Will this also be your daily tire? Does wet traction matter much?

Are these going to be your summer tires and driven daily? I like the RT615 and for $108 a tire that's a good deal. I recently bought a set of these, but they only come in 18's since it's a discontinued model.

So how's the car and Air Force treating you?

buy ken's setup and be fast!! you will not believe the grip to be had......assuming your car has the same both bolt pattern, BUT if not, then just grap the tires and sell the rims.

F' all those tires! Get a set of Goodyear F1 GSD3s and you will be set. I got Goodyear to pricematch Discount Tires online and never regretted it. BTW i have a 2005 Legacy GT also but i had to move to Cali. Think i was the first one in the I-Club crew to have one too.

I agree. They will take you to the top. After that you will have no excuses if you are slow.

Otherwise, I'd recommend the RT-615s.

Oh yeah, I sure this has been posted before but this is a good read:

Even the old RT-215s are better than the others.

So 615s FTW?? I ask cuz they dont have a 245/40-17 for the 615s. Lots of people here also run the Kooks at the AutoXs and they do well. Man, i dunno, keep the info coming.

Do I really want a 235/40/17?? I know its the azenis but whatchoo think??

And to answer someone's question why i don't get R-comps?? I'm having fun in the ST class. When i get more hardcore i'll move up but for now

Well, I've been having good experiences w/my Kumho Ecsta MXs. They're grip is pretty good as well as its treadwear (220). Its wet traction is better than the Falkens. However, the sidewalls on the Falkens are pretty stiff, giving better steering response than Kumhos inflated to the same pressures. I inflate my Kumhos to 45psi all around and they're friggin awesome!

I've been thinking of trying the RTs next because frankly, i don't care about wet traction. I have friends who use the RTs in the rain and say that their wet traction is very good, but not over standing water.

Also, out of curiosity, you have 17s, right? Aren't your sidewalls supposed to be 45s (vs. 40)?

these tires suck for auto-x. especially when the pavement gets hot. but, they are awesome in the rain. they are consistent, but they take some time getting used to.

btw, i run mine in STU and my times just seem to get worse. i'll start looking for a new set of tires if we get a permanent venue.
