threw a CEL
on my ride home from work tonight i threw obd code p0457 which is evaporative emission control system leak detected (fuel cap) but when i checked my fuel cap it was flawless and properly secured. so what im thinkin is that the pressurized fuel system is losing pressure due to...my only guess is that when i secured the plate that the fuel lines run thru to the fuel pump aparently i did not get a good seal. does anybody have .02 on this matter? i took it easy on the ride home no knockin or anything.
thanks guys,
eric

when putting back the fuel pump and sealing it there should have been a bracket that goes over 2 screws and over the top of the fuelpump assembly. did you put that bracket over the fuel pump assembly or under it? If you put it under it and didn't tighten the screws enough that might be it (highly unlikely but might be it) also according to that thread people with lowered cars get that CEL. I have yet to get that CEL and my car's been lowered for over a year now! Also if you got that CEL before all the modifications then I could see there being a problem with lowering but if my memory serves me correctly you didn't.
I would check that fuel pump area (not that it would cause it just to make sure) and also make sure that you close your gas cap and click it a few times.
on another note:
did you double check your injectors again for leaks?

yeah ive been checking my injectors pretty much everytime i start or shut down my car. there is a slight smell of gasoline inside the car which could be fuel that came out of the fuel pump when i removed it or it could be because i did not get a proper seal on top of the gas tank. also if one of my injectors was not connected properly i should be getting a lean reading cel shouldnt i? anyways im going to recheck the fuel pump tonight or tomorrow morning. i dont see this problem causing any immediate or severe damage as long as it isnt the injectors so im not terribly worried about it but i will be checking it out soon. thank mr. sti and infek
