For those in the VF30GB

Hey All,

Our illustrious leader Joey called me earlier today and put me in touch with Alex/Imprezer. This is because of a special deal that Alex has received on a VF35 turbo.

If I haven't talked to you on the phone already hit me up (if you need to call you know the #) and I can give you the details...

Thanks Joey, and thank you Alex!

Aloha,
Richard...

What do you think of the 35, Sean?

I want to be able to hang with these 30 guys (I know I'm not hanging with a 23, right )

Give me the details, Richard. I'm not necessarily committing to anything, though.

Pat

From what I can tell the VF35 is the equivalent of a VF34 with a smaller P15 (vs. p18) exhaust housing.

It'll spool lightning quick (probably quicker than a VF23) but give less top end oomph than a VF30 or VF34. It's the turbo in all the bug-eyed STi's in Australia and Europe now. (Well before the new-new age cars come out).

It replaced the VF34 because the Aussies and Europeans complained of great top-end but WAY too much lag.

Adam from Z1 Performance thinks that this turbo will spool almost like a stocker, but give you a real top-end charge but will top out at 20-30 horsepower less than a VF30/34....

Would be good for an automatic, or a short course auto-x'er, but for a drag addict like me the 30 is a better way to go IMHO. (A 34 would have been perfect, but I don't have the cash).

How exactly does A/R (area of inlet/radius of scroll) mean to me?

The VF35 has a .63 same as 30 and 34, right (like I know what A/R is)?

the vf35 is just smaller, that's the easiest way to think of it.

smaller exhaust housing means less air will be able to flow through it at higher rpms

it also has a smaller compressor side too I think.

too small for me

if i'm not mistaken A/R is basically how restrictive the housing will be compared to how quick it will spool up(actually some distance between blah compared to the center of blah's distance or something). So the lower the A/R ratio, the quicker the turbo will spool and the higher the A/R ratio, the more top end due to less restrictiveness. Thats how I take it.

errr, ... not quite sure yet, ... I mean for which motor. it'll be in an S13 though.

just curious if you get good prices for any 'makes'. if I go with a CA18det for instance, I may try for a stroker kit. I dunno. Or cams, etc.

Do you guys import front clips? or can get them? that's what I want to start with.

Great I was going to go with a VF 29. But now this VF 35 looks like what I'd want.
