Thinking of going uppipe/downpipe/headers
I've been thinking alot about Perrin uppipe and downpipe combo quite recently. From what I hear from you guys, they're very good quality. Anyone here runs a Perrin Uppie or downie? If so, any CON's about them?
I'm also deciding whether to get the Borla exhaust manifold(headers)...pretty good deal for less than 400 bucks.

First off, if you buy Perrin you will have quality AND performance. Infact, palaban should be installing his Perrin downpipe this weekend I think.
If you want to be a little chinese You could get the Gruppe-s combo and get a Helix downpipe and gruppe-s uppipe. I'm sure that the newer versions of the Helix fit better now when compared to the first batch.
I think an uppipe and downpipe is a prerequisite to making any power for our cars. Headers though I am not too fond of.

Infek and I will be installing the Perrin on Saturday. You're welcome to come check it out. The Perrin is one of the few 321 DP's. I just hope it can match the performance of the Helix.
I also have a Gruppe-S uppipe with a leak I hope to fix. I'm hoping the leak is due to the double gaskets we used or incorrect torque sequence. If it continues to leak, I'll be getting a Perrin UP.
Those Borla headers actually look pretty interesting. I'm really interested in seeing the dynos w/o the catback. As Mitch would say, be a leader! Be different, try them out, and let us know how it goes.

That Borla header looks a little 'cheap', .... but of course you're only paying $335 shipped for it, so ..... as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
The dyno plots they have for it look sweet though!! Maybe it's a good way to spend a small amount of $$ for a header to see if you like it or not. If you have the money, why not go for it?

yeah thats what i was thinking. the old thinking before was that headers were too expensive for its gains. but that was in the time of the HKS and Cusco ones which went for at least 900. for 350, i guess it might be a good try. still researching on what people said about these Borla headers though.

If you are truley going to get them, I'd wait at least 3 months. That way you can get more collective data on them and see if there are any fitment issues. There are ALWAYS fitment issues it seems with our cars. For whatever reason there are significant production tolerances.
I'm still waiting to see a baseline graph of the car that was dyno'd. Only then will you really see if there was a gain or there is some false information going around.
A stock WRX gets 168.9 HP and 165.8 LB-FT of Torque to the wheels. With the new Borla header and cat-back exhaust we got 195.5 HP and 205.8 LB-FT of Torque to the wheels.
