Is there proper brake it for rotors
Hello all i just got my rotors and i was wondering is there a proper brake in for them they are DBA-650's Slotted i also have new front pads i have heard not to brake in pads with new rotors so what do i do for each?? thanks guys Mario

You want to
"bed" the rotors and the pads. Different folks have different opinions on whether to bed new rotors and new pads together. The owner of Carbotech told me no problems. DBASteve said not to. Anyway, basically for the pads or rotors (or both), you start off at about 30mph and brake moderately, but don't come to a complete stop. Drive a little farther, repeat. Do this once or twice more. Then take the speed up to about 50 and do this whole procedure again. No take the speed up to 70 or 80 and repeat. The last few you should brake more aggressively. Now you should drive around for 15 to 20 minutes without braking, so the rotor and/or pad cools down. Basically you are gradually heating up the rotor and/or pad and this "seasons" it. Supposed to give you better, stronger braking and less problems. The above procedure was what DBA Steve recommended for their rotors.

hey olds oldmansan Can you brake in rotors with brake pads that are broken in just recently i just recently broke in my porter fields and now im aabout to put on my rotors. so can i break them in with alread broken in porter fields

According to DBASteve,
yes, absolutely, that is the preferred method. If you "seasoned" or "bedded" the pads properly, they're done. Doesn't matter if they were recently done. Once done, they're done. Bed/season the rotors properly and enjoy. By the way, if you're doing rear pads/rotors, the general train of thought is to just go easy for a hundred or two miles, as you can't really bed them, unless you plan on driving backwards constantly. Again, this was information from DBASteve.

you're going to want to do this with the new Carbotech pads when you install the Wilwoods. I usually do it on base out by where you work.
