Unhappy suspension HELP

Sup guys, I just got my wheels and tires in; finally. My question is, should I get just springs for now, bout $375 with alignment. knowing full well that I will upgrade in the future to at least shocks or more likely full coilovers. Or....should I wait a few months and just get coilovers then. My usage of the car is minimal, bout 5K miles a year. ( weekend/spirited driving ) and auto-x....so ride quality is not much of a concern. BUT, I just know that the look of the car with 17 subzeros on stock ride height is gonna kill me....AARRRGG, any insight/suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steven

if you got the cash, buy springs and then sell them later. if your strapped for cash then wait. pretty simple huh.

Well it's really up to you though... I think that you should go for the coilovers. Why spend an extra $375 and loose out in the end when you could use that money towards a good set of coilovers. I know what your saying about the wheels though and to tell you the truth it doesn't look that bad!

Steve, I say go with coilovers you'll be happier

Why do the same thing twice!

Jon

If you can save up enough $$ for coilovers in a few months, .... why not wait?

Before you do anything, you need to ask yourself what you are going to use the car for. Street? Track? AutoX? Drag?

You stated that the car will see minimal usage throughout the year, so will it be beneficial to spend $1200 on a coilover system? Where as quality lowering springs will give you the look and handling to more than satisfy you.

In my opinion and mine alone, you dont really need a 16-way adjustable suspension if you will primarily run on the street, less than 5k a year. Remember, you also have 16-ways to screw up the handling on your car too if not adjusted right.

save your money.

What are we talking about $wise for the coilovers anyways? And what are recommended?

Ah Scu answered that question about cost...

but if he's getting spring's, ... that's going to wear out the stock struts faster, and not necessarily give the best ride (although I think the spring's Russ had worked fairly well with the stock struts, I dunno). So then throw in another $400 'at least' for some decent aftermarket struts, now you're at close to a grand.

Vern is right about being able to screw up your handling, but the way I see it, there's only one way to learn. And if you want to learn, might as well do it right from the start. You can always use a setting someone else has already made tried and true, until you figure out things for yourself.

Sean...

The H&R's I was running with the stock struts were passable at autox, but the daily driving was "bouncy" & the suspension tended to bottom out on the freeway...stock struts definitely struggle with aftermarket springs. However, there are those out there that are happy with springs only.
