From what I've seen on this and other forums, they're basically all the same. If you just want to go lower, make sure they have independent spring preload and height adjustment, ( that way at least you won't run out of suspension travel when you slam it ) If they still make them, I think the megans were cheap too and some have given good reviews about the endura tech coils too.

I think most fwd, rwd, and awd suspensions have a higher front spring than the rears. The megans have a 8/f 6/r probably... It'd be kinda cool to have a 8/f 8/r for better turn in and rear wheel rate, but it's not the most stable of setups.
As for comfort, I'm not sure which one is better, I haven't had first hand experience with most of them, and don't normally slam my cars.

Nothing will be comfortable if you intend on slamming your car to the ground.
By dropping it all the way down you're basically negating any of the benefits of having shocks/springs. All you'll be doing is riding on the bumpstops.
Might as well get ground control coilover sleeves and custom wound springs from Swift. Will be cheaper (I think) and you won't be ruining nice new adjustable shocks.

I was thinking along the same lines too, but if he gets the independent ride height adjustable coilovers, he will be able to lower it to the maximum while still having full stroke and droop travel. It may rub the fender wells on bumps, and the geometry would be bad, but he'd still maintain the damping of the shocks and springs.
I think groundcontrols with eibachs would be the cheapest setup with quality in mind, ( better than some no name sleve and spring maker ), but if you slam those, there would definitely be problems with bottoming out the suspension due to the shock travel being reduced as you lower the car.

i have ground control sleeves right now with eibach springs.. its pretty slammed but im riding on bumpstops.. it is not comfy at all.. i was actually thinkin of the megan 32way fully adjustable.. go to hopupracing.com they have it for like $899 with free shipping..
I hear nothing but good about stance coilovers. The 240 community loves them, and apparently suby owners that have them love them as well. I'm gonna get a set once my stock struts go.

I have a coilover spectrum that you should check out. Search "DarkOnion Coilover Spectrum."
I personally run Stance coilovers. I love them. A little stiff, but yeah...

Yeah. All I would say is test ride them. You do have the option to get custom spring rates for them. I am running 8k/6k and I think that is kind of a lot for the GC chassis.
