SL is organized relatively well and runs pretty smoothly. My only concern is that they do not do technical inspections. A lot of cars drop out as a result. Fortunately, there haven't been any wrecks due to mechanical failures.
I agree wholeheartedly on both counts, Mark. I've paid as much as $475 for a 2-day track event. That was at VIR, a 3.2-mile absolutely awesome track, so I was willing to pay that (and I was willing to drive about 550mi each way to get there and back!).

For every track event I attended on the mainland (over 30 days worth) there were two tech inspections - one detailed inspection to be completed and signed off by an actual shop prior to the event, and then the normal inspection (very similar to SCCA tech inspection) the day of the event. The detailed inspection was intended to catch the stuff the day-of inspectors just don't have the time/resources to find.

All I know is that they sure need to have these events much more often.

I guess you guys are right the cost is not that bad but do you think that at the next one they can let us clean off the track a bit last time there were rocks all over the place thats a big turn off...Plus I really need to get some tires I can use on the track..How long are the sessions? And how many cars do they allow on the track? I will do my best to attend the next one which their site says is 18 December..

we did two ten minute sessions and one 6 lap session for time. On the short course my car was spent at the end of the day.

For this superlap, in the two practice sessions, not more than five cars per group. In the time attack session, groups of four.
