no i am @ honda windward... for the time being.. once our store is opened up again in 6 months ... the plan is that i will be back in a subaru uniform again
Nino is currently taking a break as well... my suggestion is to see one of these 2 men directly.... (they are both bosses at the dealerships)
Chris Morley @ Waialae Subaru... or Branden Johannsen @ Ohana Subaru.... these 2 guys were my main competitors... and i regard them very highly.. if you go to that "other" dealership.. i will personally slap you
unless you can hold off for 6 months... then i will be at your service..

Thanks for the replies. I was looking at the 2005 WRX, but wondered how good the 2006 model will be. I guess I can pas on the 06 if there is a good deal on the 05, when will be a good time to start looking?

if you know how to shop.. period.. anytime is the best time to buy... subaru does not really offer crazy rebates and incentives like other manufacturers.. so there is no such thing as crazy huge rebates.. and "best time to buy" . . . .if you know what you want to pay... that is when its the best time to buy. if you plan on financing-- keep tabs on interest rates too. the credit union rates just went up... so thats another factor to consider
and don't believe that end of the month crap(meaning best time to buy) keep in mind that the 1st of the month is a great time to buy also because salespeople want to get their month started... and in some cases will sacrifice some profit just to get their ball rolling... as far as the 2006 goes.. all we have right now are visual differences.. i may be wrong- but there is no official release on specs for the usdm version yet...

hmm, I saw on an ad about the 1K back with 1.9% APR. Is this only for the mainland? With the 06 coming in about a month or two, the 05 has to be priced down right?
The 2.5L seems like reliable info. But the car is said to be about a 100lbs heavier. Though there is more torque and potential, the extra 100lbs will affect maneuverability. The new front end is OK, but I wished they didn't use the center grill.

Did some research on the 04/05 impreza trannys, and the results did not seem good. I hear first gear grinds, not shifting smoothly, can't get it into 1st or R, etc. Pls be honest. Does the 05 WRX transmission suck? I don't want to be sending the car to the shop every month to replace gears and syncros.

uh, ive had my04 since january 2004. and ive dumped clutch many many times...(accidental.
) anyways, while your statement might be somewhat true, it isnt. (did that make sense?) wrx trannys are actually strong, but one 7k dump could possible destroy your trans. what kind of driver are you? are you going to be dragging your car? if you use it for daily driving and no drag, you will be fine. if you decide to drag it once inawhile, i strongly recommend you practice first before going to the track. i myself, am still learning.. anyways, i would write a lil more but i have to leave my office so peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't intend to drag. Just want a reliable car that has the power when I need to put the pedal to the metal. Sure, I know a neutral drop from 6K on my AT will mess something up as well.
My friends tell me that those reports of bad trannys are from people that drive their cars like F&F, but I just can't ignore those stories of problems under 1000miles.
Maybe at this point, I might as well run the risk and hope that I won't have a lemon tranny.
BTW, read somewhere that when the tranny fluid was changed to Redline synthetic, eveything came smooth.
