Subaru o/America Federal Odometer Act letter
I was wondering if any of you guys/gals have received a 3 page letter from Subaru of America indicating about a lawsuit filed against SOA concerning a Odometers on some 2002-2007 Subaru's being uncalibrated. It also stated about the possibility of obtaining an extension on your warranty/expired warranty.

What kind of homo would sue over their odometer being a little off?
"I just drove my car exactly 2600 miles. but my odometer says that i drove 2604 miles."
ohh nooo.
"now if I treat my car like crap and need to use the warranty I may get cheated out of a few miles." -HOMO

Frivolous lawsuits are frivolous, lawyer fees alone will probably overshadow any money reimbursed to actual Subaru owners. The difference is VERY minimal, 5%.. Out of 100,000 miles the difference is 5k.

what if your car broke at 37,000mi? is the dealer gonna fix it or just say tough ****? it may not happen often but somebody, somewhere might have gotten ripped because of that 5%. fair is fair and while i don't agree a lawsuit is the best way to fix it, sometimes it's gotta be done. just think about if it was your car and you drove like an old lady but your motor blew at 37k. wouldn't you be a little pissed when they told you to eat the bill cuz it's only 5%?

no they have extended the warranty about 3,000m but if you were out of time you're out of time. so if you got denied by miles but you were still withing the time you can bring that up to SOA that you paid for a warranty claim right out of you warranty.

5% isnt enough to matter.
example:
I rode my bike from my house to waipahu depot street and back along the bike path yesterday with my tires at 45 psi 13.9 miles. I did it again today with 80 psi 13.4 miles.
same bike, same computer, same tires, exact same path.
nearly a 5% difference, and that is with a tire that has less than 1 inch between the rim and road.
with a stock 16 inch tire on a car, there is over 3 inches between the rim and road.
you can run tires at 45 psi instead of 35 psi. probably
would make just as much difference.
biotches will always be biotches. Most people will always be too simple minded to use critical thinking to develop an understanding of anything.
I bet if tires were kept properly inflated there wouldnt be an issue. It would be like 2% off if any. However, we the tards of america expect the manufacturer to compensate for our general laziness and and adjust the odometer for the majority of people that roll around with their tires 10psi low. So homo's sue about it.

i think you may be missing the point. perhaps some reading would better help you understand the idea behind the issue. have you ever thought about why your speedometer reads wrong when you change your wheel or tire size? it's because the speedometer as well as the odometer in modern vehicles use electronic pulses and a math formula to calculate speed and distance. so for every say 40,000 transmission rotations the ECU knows it has gone 1 mile based on the gearing, wheel, and tire size. the same goes for the speedometer and the cars speed. your speedometer reads wrong with different sized wheels and tires due to the formula now being incorrect(# of rotations X tire diameter = distance traveled). so if subaru cars were following this formula then there could be no dispute about the incorrect readings, however this is not the case. According to the suit, the odometer's readout is dictated by an "external device that recognizes the electronic impulses generated by the vehicle's transmission, and converts the impulses to a mileage figure." they claim that this device was purposely used to inflate the milage even though the odometer was perfectly capable of doing the "math" all on its own. wow you can learn a lot from reading, and reading is fun! so there you have it. it's not about people being petty about +-5%, it's about whats right and whats wrong. if subaru had stepped up and accepted they made a mistake then there would be no problems. and yes i am a lazy american tard and i fully expect everyone to compensate for my laziness because thats how i roll....at 32psi
