So yeah I have been thinking about this all day and its not that I dont trust Ryan it just seems scary to me thinking of my tranny in pieces. I am supposed to get this pickup truck soon, shortly after I will start seriously thinking of getting the JDM 5th and 6th gear installed.
acceleration is fricken sick! goin to redline is much more quicker. my other friend wit a wrx drove my car, and he said that the acceleration is MEAN! but the downfall is that it eats alot of gas goin at freeway speeds. i recommend getting a aftermarket clutch right when u get that done. i learned the hard way cuz i had to get my clutch professionally installed because taking out the tranny again is a hassle.

I have mixed emotions about the RA gearset. I've considered it, but have to question the worthiness. Gears alone are 1400 to 1500. Install on top of that and while you're in there you replace a few items just for grins. You're still left with open differentials. Once you replace the open diffs, you could've bought a 6-speed. Don't get me wrong, I think the RA equipped 5-speed is lighter, but if I want to put in a built block later, the 6-speed (at a minimum) would almost be required. 2.0 liter WRXs have broken the RAs, and while I don't think the 6-speed is bulletproof, it is pretty strong. Start arguing, but bring something to the argument please.

Myron, where is your shop or where is a list of stuff you have? So I can start saving and buy stuff from you. The must haves for me is a ACT clutch/ flywheel (RS), Brakes ( the kit like Z1 perfomance has), and new rims/tires (most likely Rotas cause thats all I can afford). If you are gonna get this kinda stuff let me know!

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I will be putting in my RA gearset, ACT clutch and streetlite flywheel as soon as the parts come in. I will definately let everyone know how it feels to me.

Short ratio is the way to go.
I still get 20mpg at a 80mph on the freeway and that's with a 2.5 block.
Try to do the LSD if it's in your budget and you have Autocross or Track Days in your future.
The ACT Clutch/LWFW combo is noisy (while engine braking), so you might consider keeping the stock FW w/ Exedy clutch and using the cash savings towards the $900 LSD.

If
you're using the engine to brake, you should try the brakes instead. A lightweight flywheel will change the way you drive. I suggest you check one out to see if it fits your driving style. A front LSD is around $1000, but front and center is around $2000. I'd hate to spend that kind of money just to have a problem and wind up needing the 6-speed. Not trying to sell the 6-speed, it just makes sense.
