STI Jack point
STI Jack point
Pardon my lack of knowledge.....my first suby
Just want to confirm the front jack point on the STI because I've read a couple threads on several forums that contradict one another.
Is the proper point the square bracket w/4 bolts between the front wheels? The one that the plastic shield is secured to?
And while I'm on the topic....the rear diff can be used too?

right on guys.....thanks for the confirmation.....
So is it a ***** to jack up the car when it's lowered? Gotta block it and stuff?
I was also wondering if anyone has a low pro race jack or could make any good recommendations (price vs. quality). I was considering getting one back when I had my integra but I didnt. I know some have are very low (2-3") and they are extended which i'm thinking would be good for WRX/STIs since you need to reach farther under the car. Any ideas/recommendations?

My car is pretty low. I have a 3 ton Craftsman Jack, and can slide it right under to jack up the rear no problem. The front however, I usually use a smaller 1 1/2 ton floor jack on the side by the front tire. Then I have to follow up with my 3 ton jack under the engine bay on the crossmember. Hope it helps.
Thanks for the input....I should be fine for now but I may seriously consider an extended race jack somewhere down the road to save some time......only problem is the "cheaper" ones are around $400-500 with some up to $1k.
By the way....anyone know the torque spec for the oil drain plug? I've read its around 33lb/ft but I want to be sure.....that is quite a bit higher than a lot of other cars.

That is the correct torque specified by the factory service manual, at least for an '02 WRX. I use a Fumoto Oil Drain Valve part number F-105 and optional locking clip. It's also available with a nipple to attach a length of hose.
