You'd better! You didn't do anything wrong - so why should you be paying $500+ a month for a car you won't get to drive for 2 weeks?

In fact - they should have a spare ECU they can throw in your car while yours gets reflashed. There's no excuse for a full-fledged dealership not to have the equipment available there.

When I was at Lexus we were REQUIRED by Toymoco to have certain special service tools (mainly concerning TSB's) on hand to deal with customer satisfaction issues...

Yes it makes a lot of sense that the dealer would order a spare ECU or two (they don't cost that much). If some of the tuners (Vishnu, etc..) can do it I don't see why the dealer can't do the same.

sub-sonic,

How about suggesting to the managers there? My car is a daily drive and I can't live without it for 1 week, let along 2 weeks. Then you can just start scheduling people in to get their ECU swapped. I actually don't see why you couldn't just order spares, have them reflashed (If they don't come reflashed), swap them with a customers and send that customers back to reflash for the next customer. This is what the tuners do. Worst case the customer would get the loaner ECU (as Richard mentioned) and then come back when their original ECU comes back. Just some suggestions. We know it's not the dealers fault that the ECU requires a reflash, but the dealer is who the customers will get upset with.

Do you need a reflash if you are going to get a XEDE?
if you got knock then you need the reflash. I think if your gonna go the exed route than I think you wont have to but you may as well take advantage of the service. Correct me if Im wrong guys.

I think Shiv has done tuning on both. I personally think it's best to get the reflash if you experience detonation unless you plan to go for a 3rd party reflash such as ECUTEK (when available).

Don't you loose like 10% (~30hp) from the reflash?

If true, that's probably only in the rev range that the timing is pulled back. Even so - it's a lot better than ping. DETONATION events are one of the worst things you can do to your engine. NO audible detonation is acceptable. Do whatever you need to get rid of it.

(Unless you're not going to keep the car for very long)

Not sure what the real loss is (if any). Still looking for a before and after dyno. Newer STis will come reflashed anyways unless they've been sitting on the lot for a while.
