STI 6spd Transmission Diagrams..
That's interesting. The throwout bearing isn't attached to the fork? It's attached to the plate?
Thanks for the pic. I guess I'm just shocked that he's going to rebuild the trans for the rattling. That's pretty hardcore.

im not the only one....

i thought it was the tob, and i wish it was..
before i crack the trans im gonna do the simple stuff, tob, pilot beraring, and throw on the stock fly... if the sound is still there its obvious it wasnt those bearings... its a very long road ahead before i crack the trans, but i thought id research it now. this noise can possibly get worst as it wasnt as loud as it is now, that is one of the reasons it worries me. if i drive more with something wrong with the car, i may cause more damage....

well just be careful when installing the new bearing.
I ended up using a pvc pipe cap and a mallet. the cover was to be the size or close to the size of the outside of the bearing but shy of the actual flywheel. that way you can make sure you don't damage the bearing accidentally. the cap was cheap enough so it'll be good to keep around. DO NOT OIL THE BEARING ON THE OUTSIDE

yes it's sealed but what I meant was oil it to get it into the flywheel.
yup those are the caps. I just don't know what the size is. I have the ones for the rear main seal but not for that one.
