Starter question...

Ok, so I go out to my stupid Blazer and crank it up and all I hear is the fast ticking sound and no cranking. It just ticks away. The battery seems fine since all the gauges are good so it sounds like the starter.

Sound right? Im clueless under the hood, but thats all I can think of. My friend used to have this and would smack the starter with a wrench or something which he said worked. Plausible?

Im sure you guys know right away what this is, just want to get some input before having it towed somewhere or trying to fgure out where the starter is.

Thanks...

Just cause the gauges work, doesn't mean that there is enough juice to crank the motor over.

Try and jump it and see if that helps.

As a side note, batteries don't last nearly as long in our humid, tropical conditions as they do in an arid environment...

Either that or buy one of those rechargable "jumper packs" that they sell. Those are REALLY handy.

Yeah had one in Boise, was always leaving my camaro lights on for some reason. Not fun. After about 5 jumps at work I bought one. Might have to check around for those...
