The group SORT is holding a rally at Honolulu Hale on
Wednesday 7/5/06 from 11:30am till 2:30pm. They have
invited all racers that support saving the track to
attend. The purpose of the rally is to show support to
the City - for the efforts to save, and reopen Hawaii

not to be negative but why are we trying to save the track when we should be trying to get a new one? unless they are planning to completely redo the track then i won't be showing up for any events like this one. too long have the management of the track had to show us love by maintaining the track while we did have it. i can't see supporting an org that asks for our help and does nothing in return but take our money. if they truely cared about the motorsport community then they would have never let the old track get in such a horrible condition in the first place. just my $0.02, make up your own mind.

SORT has burned too many bridges and alienated too many people for me to ever support them.

sad but so true. the state is spending soo much money on many new rediculuos projects that i have gotten really bitter these last few months since they closed down the only venue w/o any other options. It is impossible to imagine that HRP will reopen in the near future, as i don't know of any lawmakers actually pushing the reopening or the construction of a new track. I was optimistic of it happening, but now the inevitable is beginning to set in. All efforts for these rallies are admirable, but who in legislation is actually on the racers' side? Anyway, i'll support the building of a new facility, but i'm not holding my breath.

True. While I'd like to support the opening of a legal venue for motorsports, there has been too much conflict and lack of a united front in past recent efforts towards a multi track facility.

I support their efforts as it is towards a legal track, but they haven't exactly been supportive of the efforts of many of us who strived for the new facility.

I would actually be split on my decision to go. I understand their stance and reasons in the past (i.e. issues w/Mike Oakland) for actually NOT supporting the building of the new facility for lack of plans for a dirt track. To me, it would feel like cheering alongside the opponent but for the same goal.
