Don't flame the F#ck out of me, but why don't we do solo I here? We could pull it off, mixing up which way and what part of the track we use. Couldn't we?
Why?? You stupid f_cking Ignorant lame a$$ dumb F_ck retarded honda lovin cop wanna be non drivin (OHH!) wantin to buy an mr2 loser!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you do a search!!!????

well, you'd have to have a roll cage (I Think), other safety stuff. But more so the fact (I Think) that it follows SCCA Club Racing car classification, which isn't you're daily driver. They have 'Wheel to Wheel' club racing, ... but I assume you're asking for something that is still a 'time trial' event. That was a whole lot of no info, huh?
I'm sure you'll get a better answer from these other SCCA guru type peoples, .... you dumb ricer!

"The fastest man or woman wins as you test your driving skills on the track."
"Solo Trials events are entry level events and provide a speed rush without the possible dangers of the following venues. These events can be run without a driver's suit and/or rollbar (unless you have a convertible)." <----Taken from the www.scca.org
I thought Solo I was Solo II without the cones. We should be able to do this.
Oh and nice flame!:P

Here part of an email from Ed Kemper on 12/29/02. Not sure if the 1/25/03 race is still on or not.
The next wheel to wheel race, SOLO I, and track day is set for Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 at HRP. We need our usual head count. Let me know if you can make.
The rest of the 2003 wheel to wheel schedule is as follows:
Mar. 30 Sunday
May 25 Sunday
July 27 Sunday
Sept. 20 Saturday
Nov. 23, Sunday

so yeah, ... they do SOLO I on the wheel to wheel days? I thought it might be like that.
But still, I think the car classification is different than SOLO II. ADn yes, it is more like a 'high speed time trial' than SOLO II. Kinda like if we timed our open track days, one car at a time.
We might as well push Farid into setting something like that up for us. (Considering the $$$) He has become more active in that sense. I've been wanting to do timed laps around HRP for over a year now, ... but I don't have my f_king car anymore!!!

It's scary how long it's been since the last Track day with speedgear. I mean even Mildse7en is thinking about coming out to SCCA....
hey guys...to do solo I, you need to have a roll BAR...a roll CAGE is necessary in the wheel-to-wheel events...you also need a special solo I license to participate, but i was told it wasnt that hard to get...
you'd also need a snell SA (NOT "M") rated helmet- so no motorcycle helmets, but the more pricey "car" helmets...and if i'm not mistaken, you also need the nomex suit/gloves/shoes that wheel-to-wheel requires...cha-ching!
and for qualifying, you'd be running with all the wheel-to-wheel folks in the same heat...it's just that (in solo I) you cant pass in the turns, only on the straightaway...i've seen it on some days when there were hardly any solo I guys, so they'd just lump everyone together into one heat (there's only a handful of racers out there anyway, so it's not like the track will be real crowded- the most i seen on track all at once was 6 cars...
it looks like the "solo trials" thing is different from solo I...
i know all this crap because i would go to the wheel-to-wheel races and help pit for one of the drivers...i was also seriously considering wheel-to-wheel racing until i figured out the cost of everything:
1. roll cage
2. fire suppression system (extinguisher or more elaborate sprinkler system)
3. wheel to wheel licensing fee ~$500-$600
4. nomex clothing
5. new helmet
6. medical fees (doctor check up and stuff)
all that, and i wasnt about to put a roll cage in a street car...and i couldnt afford it if i phucked up my car at the track...as it is now, i'm too chicken **** to give it 9/10ths at the auto-x...

Wait a minute poser, Solo I isn't wheel to wheel that's why it's called "solo". I think your talking about club spec racing.
"Solo I / Solo Trials
Solo I events are single-car speed competitions which require many of the safety measures used in racing, but provide a speed thrill. It brings the driver into high speed competition and yet does not expose the competitor to all of the risks involved in racing.
Depending on the area of the country you can test your skills at Solo Trials, Hill climbs, time trials, and flat track events. Check the Solo I Schedule for events near you.
Solo Trials events are entry level events and provide a speed rush without the possible dangers of the following venues. These events can be run without a driver's suit and/or rollbar (unless you have a convertible)." <-------Once again taken from www.scca.org
We could do Solo trials here!

Dan, poser is right about all the "preparation" needed for SoloI racing. Warm up or practice laps can have all wheel to wheel & SoloI cars on the track at the same time...there are usually 8-9 cars allowed on the track per session. For the actual "timed" portion, SoloI & wheel to wheel cars run separate "heats". There can be more than 1 car on the track (SoloI) at a time...they are started seconds apart to allow spacing between cars. Slower cars can be passed/lapped on the straight. Actual competition involves the fastest lap out of 4 laps. Costs to run will vary according to the total number of participants on any given day, but expect to pay upwards of $150 per race day. If you are interested you can call Lindsey Akamu @ 841-7391, he'll fill you in on the small details.

i looked in the 2001 rulebook, and solo trials is an entry level solo I, used when there is no solo I available for some reason or another...another SCCA club website stated that solo trials is for keeping the speeds under 100...(if anyone can tell me how to cut and paste from adobe acrobat, i can post up stuff from hte rulebook)
hrp is too long to keep it under 100 on the straight, and lapping sessions are available to keep it under 100, so i doubt that a solo trials will start here...
and FYI, the rulebook does state that in solo I, you need a drivers suit...
dont take this as me being a pansy *** ***** having to make my point, i just want people to know what the rules are and what i think the rules mean...
