it costed me 1700 to rebuild my 3rd gear. if you need a trans let me know. i have about two. both trans are rebuilt for about 2200. let me know

yeah. but that was pflueger and i broke mines right when they were bankrupt so they charged me one heck of a price.

 

you need to look at WHY 3rd gear broke. How much power are you pushing? If you broke one stock gear, whats going to keep the next one from breaking?

thanks guys.... but i think i might buy 4080wrx trans the 2.5rs 5spd .... but he said i need to change my rear differential also.... is that a good idea? where do i find a rear differential?
if this works out then ill take it to vakamon...

 

If I remember correctly about the RS and WRX gears, the RS gears are much closer so it benefits greatly if you are planning to auto-x/track race/tantalus it. You will lose straight line 0-60 times and also lose top end speed, but if it doesn't matter to you, then by all means, go for it.

You're gonna hit redline really quick in second gear, enough for ecu fuel cut so although it will pull harder, you sometimes wish you had a higher redline on the motor.

just wondering how much would it cost to sti motoer and trans swap cost... im not saying im going to doit but just curious

 

first you have to find a motor, trans, drivetrain, and all supporting parts. if you are lucky you can find a complete swap for around 4-5K. unfortunately supply is very low in Hawaii and I would recommend shopping in the mainland. with that being said now you have to worry about shipping.

i am just completing my swap of a WRX motor and tranny into a 97 Impreza OBS. I completely lucked out on everything and will have a kick butt car when all is said and done at a awesome price.
