...and have become addicted to GT3 on the PS2 (thanks to Wes' evil influence!) does anybody know where I can find a deal on a used:

Right now I have 178 cars and have raced so many races I dont know what to do anymore.
Check ebay maybe? I dont know. Also just search around classifieds and stuff and you can find it.

I'm in the same boat. I was considering buying used or refurbished, but I think I might be better off getting a new one. I have seen a few PS2's fail.
Just make sure you know what you're getting into. Once you start, you can pretty much kiss all your free time for the next few weeks good-bye!

There is a rumor that the Sony Playstation 2 game console system will receive a pricedrop to $99 in mid-November. According to this article, sources from Target stores say that they have already received printed fliers showing the Playstation2 at the new price. However, understand this is just a rumor at this time.

Sony has the wildcard here, and any price drop would definely hurt M$ XB0X. and depends how much would hurt GC. If there is a price drop I would guess the new PS2 cost about $139~149. No point to get down to $99, unless Sony want to play with the Evil M$ and Poor Old NN.

Makes sense that there would be a price drop, especially with xmas coming around. If I recall, in the past there has always been a price drop of a gaming console before the holidays. I would say to wait it out this month.

Be careful with used PS2's. The early models especially had big problems. Sony has admitted to making the PS2 break over time in order to force you to buy the next console.
Test all three disk types, black, blue, and silver and make sure they read. Typically, one type will stop working well and the problem slowly spreads to others. Make sure it plays DVDs. If it doesn't, it's going down hill. I learned all of this the hardway. :-/
Other than that have fun.
