Living on the lake during the winter is part of the culture up here. People drive out on the lake and set up their ice-fishing houses for MONTHS. Some of those things (Ice houses) are like mini castles of frozen fish. It's really no big deal to drive on 2-3 feet of ice. You just have to make sure it's thick enough when you get on, and that you get off before it's too thin. This is good advice for women, too.
