Short Shifter Opinion

So what are your guys'/gals' opinions on short shifters? The Kartboy looks interesting and I'm wondering if it's worth it since it's not too expensive to ask for christmas this year :-)

If you're planning to get the Kartboy, then you might as well pick up their bushing combo. You're going to be down there anyway and it does make a difference.

As for short shifters, I don't know about the 09's and their shifters and how SS's would make a difference at all but on normal cars, it changes the shifting completely. Some don't like it right away but as they get used to it, they like it more and more.

kartboy + front & rear bushings = so awesome on the new wrx.
reduces the throw nicely, and the bushings finish it off nicely. seriously, if you're going with the kartboy, get the bushings too. you won't regret it.

IMO money best spent else where. I would go with some sway bars and/or strut bars, just IMO.

Going to have to disagree. I swaybar is money spent differently, not better. Struts are a completely different price range, but once again, only money spent differently, not better.

+1,

If you care at all about driving feel, short shifter + good bushings makes a world of difference. IMO of course.

strut bars = decent, not very noticable

rear sway bars = good

short shifter = good

I said strut bars not struts.....but yeah struts would be a completely different price range. either way to each his own I have owned 4 Subies and I have been content with the OEM shifter and the bushings but thats not to say I would have been happier with some aftermarket ones. again IMO I would spend my money else where.

I have the Subaru short throw shifter, it makes a big difference. I drove the car for 2 days before I had the short throw put in... stocker was just too high (the actual shift **** position) and the distance between gears was a bit on the ridonculous side. Duuuuu eeeeet

Totally worth it. And like everyone said do the bushings as well. I installed my shifter a night before my bushings and could barely tell if I was getting into 2nd gear cause felt so soft. I know I have a lgt but damn felt like I was driving a truck with how high and how long the throws of the stock shifter was. Sts is one of them bang for buck mods imo.
