shifting problem

Anyone hear of problems in shifting to 2nd. It shifts like butter when I change at 3k or below, but when I rev to like 5000 and up, shifting into 2nd feels really notchy and hard. During normal driving its perfect, but when I went to the tracks 2 weeks ago I experienced that notchy shifting into 2nd and best time I did was 13.4. First gear is perfectly fine cuz I only slip it, but I just dump it when I shift to 2nd. I thought this was normal, but I called Schuman and talked to Braun and he said it shouldn't be doing that. So I'm bringing it tomorrow morning to Schuman so Ed can road test it. Hopefully its nothing too bad, like messed up synchros. Just want to know what you guys think.

does it grind? Mine grinds into 4th from both 3rd and 5th unless I shift below 3k. Even then, sometimes. Mine is the synchros.

I heard it happens with these gearboxes... I get the same things going into 2nd at higher RPMs...I was told to just ease it in and not ram it in there. If this is indeed abnormal then I have to get mine checked out too.

what is it supposed to look like? is it supposed to look like black engine oil or clear looking? braun said he's going to put synthetic tranny fluid instead of what the stock one has, which I don't know what it has.

on cold mornings my first to second goes in pretty notchy. when it warms up its as smooth as the other gears. I only have 1400 miles on the STI so let me know what happens after the fluid switch.
