In search for Subaru mechanic
I was wondering if anyone knows of a good mechanic that is knowledgeable with Subaru's?
I have two issues that the dealer and another private mechanic could not figure out.
1. Hard start issues when warm. Once car is warmed up and then shut down for over 10min, it takes quite a bit of cranks to start back up. If the engine is started within a few minutes, starts fine. Starts fine when left overnight.
2. P0171 lean code. Had this code indicating that the car was getting too much air. Had smoke test, cylinder pressure test, fuel pressure test, and changed the turbo inlet hose to aftermarket(after Subaru said the inlet was ripped), but the A/F correction still maxes out at 25%.
Interestingly, it doesn't throw the code if I use the Cobb map with the SF intake tune. But the correction is still high.
The car only has Cobb stage 1, and a perrin turbo inlet for mods.
Spent so much money already on this with no improvement. I'd appreciate if someone can shed some light on these issues.
Thanks

Heard that a failing coolant temp sensor can cause the hard start ups, but my temp readings are fine. Can that ever be partially broken?

It can. Coolant temp, crank position, or cam position sensors could all be culprits. A weak/dying fuel pump that's unable to overcome fuel heating up in the lines could also be the problem. If you have access to known good sensors to try that would be your best bet. The crank position sensor is often what does it.
