Saturdays ROCK at HRP :D

1. Met a bunch of "young bloods" - Eric, Dale, Mike - nice to meet y'all! I'd love to get a copy of the videos you took of Wes and I running!

2. The starting line **** still hates WRX's. I ran 5 times tonight and got stuck at the front of the line 3 times out of 5. GRRR.

3. Wes and I grudged 3 times tonight and the score was Wes: 2, Richard 1. However one of the losses was 'cause of my .480 redlight! (Wes cut a .502!!! )

4. Wes can launch like a **** - he cut a 1.82 60'! My best launch was a measly 1.83.

5. Vishnu chips make more mph apparently... Wes and I are turning VERY similar ET's - but he's got 2-3mph on me. Very weird.

6. I should ALWAYS run the last pass. Wes is right - I always get my best times at the end of the night when I'm ready to go home. My first 13.9, 13.8, 13.7, 13.4 and tonight - 13.3 BABY! Woohoo!

r/t - .482 (Hehehe)
60' - 1.869
1/8 et - 8.502
1/8 mph - 81.22
1/4 et - 13.36
1/4mph - 99.36

7. I think the white Laser (Blake?) blew the hell up or something when racing Wes. He started puking oil all over the tower lane and they had to shut it down. Wes towed him back to the pits where they were in shock. Hope everything is okay.

8. BONE stock '03 Cobra went 12.9 @ 109.5mph. JEEEEEZUS. Paper plates and all, just plain nuts...

9. Henry Tabios blew off some 10.50's again last night in his Nitrous Mustang... I think he's going to win the hi-tech class again.

10. While I think good short times are important, it seems that my best passes don't necessarily have my best 60' or best mph #'s. The e.t. slips on WRX's don't make sense to me 100% of the time.

11. 13.36

12. I need engine management.

Do you have your right foot planted all the way through the second light beam in the traps? Your E.T. will not change, but the finish line is halfway between the two mph beams. If you let up too soon, your mph will be slower.

If this isn't the case, Wes is making significantly more power than your car, as mph at the end of the 1/4 mile equates to wheel horsepower. Could be that he is somehow not optimizing his runs. If he isn't losing it on the launch, maybe he's short shifting or revving too high during shifts and losing ground to you.

Congrats on the E.T.s, fellas!

Thanks, WW. I know the numbers look pretty dismal in their Hawaii-diluted goodness - but believe you me they're cause for celebration in my camp!

My stock WRX ran .5 seconds and 4mph slower than most "mainland" claims.

I'm hoping that means my 13.36 @ 99.59mph equates to a 12.86 @ 103.59 - but I doubt it.

Oh, and to answer your question I have my foot firmly planted THROUGH the floorboard with my two paws pulling towards me on the steering wheel - so I think you're right. Wes is making for oomph than I am.

Maybe I should get Shiv to re-tune my Unichip?

Aloha,
Richard...

Thumbs up Congrats guys!

1.82 - 1.83 60'

13.3 - yeah baby!

Jon and I wanted to come down and see how my catless wagon would run. Looks like I'll have to wait another week.

Props to Infek for the install and thanks for the tip Richard!

I was there with my brother and his wife in their Eclipse GT. I saw a couple of the WRX grudge matches - even the announcer said, "That was great, bring them back around I want to see them go again!"

I had a rather crappy night, just couldn't get any good launches at all. My best of the night was a 2.179, which resulted in my best ET of the night, a 15.421 in the high 88s. I think I need to work on slipping the clutch a bit to keep the RPMs up as I launch, otherwise I get a big initial jump and then bog down in 1st.

My brother and I had a few good grudge runs, with the first one probably being the best. I had a 0.546 RT, he had a 0.550 RT. My 60' was better (although still crappy - 2.376 vs 2.533) and at the finish we literally were neck-and-neck - my 15.891@88.26mph losing to his 15.824@90.17mph. Good stuff! His wife then got in the car and I beat her a couple times, then my bro drove a couple more times and we had a couple more close ones. I beat him once based on my better RT, and then I red-lighted on the last run (he would have beat me on that one anyway).

Awesome job guys! Richard, glad to see your turbo is finally doing what its suppose to. Now all you need is a fuel cut defender and crank up your boost and you'll be in 12's.

Pat,

So that was YOU! Wes and I were at the line when we saw your cool lookin' Scooby - but couldn't figure out what kind of car it was specifically. VERY neat!

Jayson,

I'm already running 18.75psi (4krpm in 4th gear) of boost! TurboXS ups the boost cut to 21psi. Maybe I'll try for 19.5psi next later.

Here was the first Grudge that Wes an I ran - talk about NECK and NECK! (like Pat and his brother)

Wes - Richard
.690 - reaction time - .648
1.911 - 60'- 1.855
8.68 - 1/8 et - 8.579
80.54 - 1/8 mph - 79.35
13.568 - 1/4 et - 13.526
99.14 1/4 mph - 97.19

.084 first finish --->

Later Wes got his revenge (even though I TREED his butt )

Richard - Wes
.534 - reaction time - .726
1.861 - 60' - 1.826 <-- (look at Wes' 60'!)
8.725 - 1/8 et - 8.576
78.37 - 1/8 mph - 80.19
13.698 - 1/4 et - 13.455
97.25 - 1/4 mph - 100.44

.050 first finish --->

So I treed him - but he caught up a little with that AWESOME 60' and then proceeded to outpower me down the rest of the track and JUST nipped me in the lights by 5 HUNDREDTHS!

Then I decide it's time for #3 - and I'm gonna win no matter what the cost as you'll soon see:

Wes - Richard
.502 - reaction time - .482 (He cut a .502 light after I redlighted! )
1.877 - 60' - 1.869 (VERY close 60' times! Not very good for either of us)
8.625 - 1/8 et - 8.502
80.94 - 1/8 mph - 81.22 (my first 81mph 1/8th)
13.508 - 1/4 et - 13.36
99.59 - 1/4mph - 99.36

.161 first finish --->

So not only do I redlight his behind (unintentionally I might add! ) but the car does some freakish power thing and pulls like a freight train.

The computer in my WRX is like a woman - it does what it wants, when it wants, how it wants... I don't get it - but I have to live with it so I accept it.

Now that was some fun grudgin'!

No prob, Richie... How did everything turn out? The uppipe isn't THAT much of a pain as long as no bolts/nuts break or round right?
