Has anyone replaced their head gasket? or do you have any tips on starting this task beside the basics?

Might wanna get a cam gear holder like cobbs one. Motor needs to be pulled of course, did a complete motor tear down twice, not something I'd like to undertake again.
You should be able to do this yourself, seeing as you basically built this car on your own.
Have fun!!!

Pulling the motor will by your best bet. Like DOHC said get a cam gear holder or you be breaking the those plastic cam gears. I have done head gaskets in the car but you have to jack the shet out of one side of the motor at a time and loose the motor mounts. Pulling motor is always fun and once you do a head gasket it feel like you can do anything on a subaru. While you there drop in some forge pistons and rods hahaha.

Cool thanks. I'll see what happens when the heads are off.
Btw does anyone have those cam gear holders that I could borrow or rent?
