Remember Len? Steal My Sunshine?
That was a song I classify as one of my many guilty pleasures. (read: things that you like in spite of yourself...stuff that you ordinarily wouldn't like)
I think that the chick's voice is what did it for me.
Anyhow, that leads me to another topic: sampled music. Can anyone guess which song/beats that Len stole to make their one hit? No? It was called, More, More, More by Andrea True Connection.
I imagine y'all know what songs Vanilla Ice (Queen and David Bowie's Under Pressure) and Tone Loc (Van Halen's Jamie's Crying). I always like to keep an ear to songs people rip off. Anyone else know of any quaint ones?
Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve sampled the orchestration piece from The Last Time by The Rolling Stones.

There's a whole sub-culture dedicated to digging for samples and breaks. I got into it for a while and found that some of the songs the artists sampled were far better than the new songs. I discovered a lot of new music by looking for samples.
I made a mix cd of early west coast hiphop and the samples they used to make the songs. It's pretty hot. (pats self on back)
Funky Drummer is probably the most sampled song of all time.
Let's not forget Diddy...you may have found his blatant ripoffs of 80's hits (Bowie, The Police, Diana Ross) to be cheesy when they first came out. But when you think about how big 80's music is now, you could almost call him a visionary.

Some other samples off the top of my head:
Sing for the Moment - Eminem / Dream on - Aerosmith
Just a friend - Biz Markie / (You) Got What I Need - Freddie Scott
Express Yourself - NWA / Charles Wright And The Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band - Express Yourself
My Name is - Eminem / Back in Black - AC/DC
This is the best sample listing on the net.
