Recon, Bounce test, True/False?
I've both read and heard that there IS and there is NOT a bounce test in a RECON appointment now a days. I just want a definitive answer on the subject since it requires me spending some coin to satisfy this requirement if it is indeed true.
I know there's a ton of people that have gone to recon appointments lately. So people that have gone to a recent (1 year) RECON appointment, I'm asking YOU, what's the deal with this? Is there or isn't there a bounce test and what exactly are they looking for in this?
thanks in advance.

How much "bounce" did the inspector say is sufficient? I have an appt on Monday and I tried to bounce my car and its pretty stiff lol. Would softening the dampers help?

Try the softest setting, drive like that over the weekend, and let some air out of the tires prior to the inspection. Air up at the Chevron just outside when you pau.
Depends on which inspector you get. Wrx in front of me failed because the inspector pushed on his fender and there was no movement, he was not given a chance to push down on his own car. My inspector allowed me to push down my own car. He even said that he knows "these cars" don't bounce. he asked for 1inch up and 1inch down. He even told me I can push on my radiator support and inside my trunk. He was 50/50 on the travel in the front, but he was okay with the rear. My car isn't slammed and I have RCE Tarmac II coil overs. Even though they have a lot of travel, my car is just as hard to push down like any other subaru with coil overs. Aside from peaking under the hood, bumper beam and foam is the next thing he checked... from there i was done. I got my recon April 1st.
I passed just fine with bounce test like a week ago...but like everyone knows not even a stock Subaru (Sti to be exact) can't pass recon cause they are too stiff from the factory..even the guy there told me that...lol (they should give recon for us from the factory) lol but I have tein flex on softest setting if that helps with any idea of where u stand..my car kind of move no where near 1in up and down but the guy at recon office said he was amazed about my "Subaru" even bouncing..haha just make sure the tires don't touch the fender , head light is more then 22in off the ground , no led and you should be alright..oh yeah and no zip ties holding up any body parts..the gc in front of me failed cause of that lol

Alright, so my appointment was on 4/1/14. (Passed)
I talked to the inspector while I was writing down my mods, he said "We will bounce test all cars, but that is the least of our concern". I think you shouldn't worry to much, friend.

Passed inspection yesterday. The process was pretty quick. Opened my hood, inspector measured height from the middle of the headlight to the ground, made me bounce the car myself (bounced it as hard as possible), and measured rear bumper height. I have fortune auto coilovers 7k F/R and on the softest setting during the inspection.

I'm worried about failing with my coils.
Do they just eyeball the travel and not actually record the amount?
I'm hoping as long as mine moves, then i'm good lol.
