Rear diff "Hooo" sound.

Recently there has been a harmonic hooooo sound around 60-65mph under neutral load. I hope that its coming from the rear diff rather than the transmission. After doing some spot on research, I found that subaru released a tech service bulletin regarding this issue. Would they still cover this even not under warranty? Im not sure if anyone else had this issue here before.

same thing happens to me, more pronounced in 4th and 5th gear in my 04 wrx. under load its fine, but when i let off and coast in gear, there is a howling "hooooooooing" sound. im also thinking its the rear diff, too. havent changed the fluid yet, i gotta get on that.

If your out of warranty ...its not covered under warranty....its just basically that a technical service bulletin to help techs diagnose certain problems and conditions...the only exceptions are when there is a factory recall on the vehicle...

if you want the TSB done...and your warranty is up...you would have to pay for the part as well as the time to install the parts...
