Firearms permit/registration
Does anyone know what states a Hawaii firearms permit/registration will get me thru? I tried looking at HPD's website and found nothing.
I am planning on doing a road trip across the country roughly in January and I plan to carry my pistol in my trunk while traveling. Would there be any immediate registration with that state that I am passing thru? Or will my Hawaii registration and military orders carry me till I get to my final destination?
I know we have some HPD in here, please chime in on what you know.
Thanks

Yeah I am concerned about the Zombies also but more of a believer that anarchy will rule the US one day. Maybe not in my lifetime but one day.
My next AR I buy will probably be a SIG 556 or I may just stick with a one of the many brands of civilian M4's and probably a small S&W revolver. we'll see though....

Jess, Hawaii has reciprocity in several states. It's good to know there is a gun fanatic here. I'm the proud owner of a Taurus Judge colt .45 with 6 1/2 inch barrel, and a 1911 45. Both registered in Tx because it and Utah have the most reciprocity.
Hawaii has some of the most strict gun laws I have seen. It is a felony to carry a loaded hand gun inside a car, concealed or not. It has to be unloaded in a case.

This link should help you out.
As far as carrying it while traveling, check your route which you're traveling and check each state. Honestly if you get pulled over and show military orders and you tell the cop you have an unloaded gun that is registered from a different state, I think you're technically fine until you've reached your destination.
Good luck.
